Improve Your Business Speed on the Treadmill

It's almost summer, and everyone here seems to be training for something. We're active in Rochester's Tour de Cure, we'll be out as a team in the Chase Corporate Challenge at RIT, and some of us are gearing up for a full or half marathon. 

I'm always trying to get more of the right things done. Lately I've been packing in TED Talks while at the gym, learning some business insights and drawing new correlations. 

Some you may find useful:

  • Simon Sinek, "How Great Leaders Inspire Action"
    Sinek's book, Start With Why, is a can't miss, but if you only have 18 minutes, watch the TED Talk. Finding your "why" makes business decisions, priorities, and your marketing message clear.

  • Amanda Palmer, "The Art of Asking"
    Palmer, lead singer of the
    Dresden Dolls, raised $1.25M on Kickstarter as one of the first artists to give music away in exchange for a contribution. Many of the industries we serve are undergoing significant pivots, and there are lessons to be learned from the music industry here.
