"Father" of Optics in Rochester, & PLS "Grandfather" honored in Rochester Hall of Fame

Dr. Robert Hopkins, distinguished professor and President of the Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester, and founder of Corning Tropel in 1953, will be honored on October 7 as an inductee to the Rochester Hall of Fame. Like fellow honoree Jane Glazer, who has helped to reshape downtown Rochester, Dr. Hopkins' legacy is seen all over Rochester and in the optics industry.

Dr. Hopkins' son Roger Hopkins founded PLS in 1986, and in our earliest days, shared space with Dr. Hopkins. Our work in Optics began then, nearly 30 years ago, and continues today.

We send our thanks and congratulations to the Hopkins family as they honor Dr. Hopkins.
