As technical companies struggle to find success with traditional marketing and advertising, they look for new ways to gain the attention of their highly specific buyers. The Launch Solutions marketing sessions will present strategies for attracting and interacting with new customers effectively.

The first session, “Marketing and Sales for Engineers,” will focus on sales and marketing skills for engineers now charged with technical sales. Sales by engineers to engineers require different skills, and Nichols is experienced in building models proven to work for companies like these. The course will also address common marketing challenges and mistakes and how to fix them.

The second session, a “Marketing Roundtable,” will give CEOs and product managers a chance to compare successful marketing tactics with their peers in the optics industry. As the discussion facilitator, Nichols will share best practices and lessons learned from the optics and photonics companies she works with and offer tips for improving marketing and sales ROI.

These sessions are intended for CEOs, VP of Marketing or Sales, product managers, marketing staff and others who interact with customers and are responsible for ensuring a healthy pipeline. Both are an hour long and will take place at the Tucson Technical Workshop, held at the University of Arizona Nov.10-11, 2014. Participation is limited to APOMA members and free to Workshop attendees.

The Tucson Technical Workshop will include discussions on freeform optics, cleaning and polishing of emerging optical materials and other topics, as well as a tour of the University of Arizona’s mirror lab.
